ActuateOne extends BIRT-based data visualizations to Apple and BlackBerry mobile devices to provide a unified user experience on both desktop and mobile-based devices, according to Actuate. For instance, the BIRT Mobile Viewer for the iPad is a native app that can access BIRT iServers as well as Actuate's platform-as-a-service (PaaS) called BIRT onDemand.
Actuate claims to be the only BI vendor to combine Internet browser access as well as native-app access, custom-app access and an SDK for iOS. The SDK allows iOS app developers to integrate any BIRT-accessible content by virtue of native Objective-C program modules. ActuateOne also provides a high-definition HD Viewer for the iPad, which includes a richer user experience that makes use of the iPad's advanced features, including annotation.

"BIRT Mobile, based on ActuateOne, extends BIRT-based data visualizations to mobile devices with the same singularity of user experience that our customers have come to expect from Actuate," said Nobby Akiha, senior vice president of marketing for Actuate. "Mobile applications deployed using ActuateOne maximize developer productivity and optimize the end-user experience within a unified environment."
Actuate reports are constructed on the Collaborative Reporting Architecture using Eclipse, Java, portlets, XML and AJAX. Design sharing and interactive viewing allow collaborative reporting—interactive reports jointly developed by IT and business users that share tools and spreadsheet reporting—that automatically generates analysis-ready, data-driven spreadsheets, as well as open-source BIRT reporting.
ActuateOne's data visualizations include interactivity, dashboards, analytics and a multitude of deployment options to both the Web and mobile BIRT applications, in order to provide a unified user experience. Improved operational performance can be either cloud-based or employ the use of a traditional server.
