ActuateOne Takes Open-Source BI Mobile

For the first time, AcutateOne brings open-source BI to Apple's iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch, as well as to BlackBerry smartphones. Native access with Business Intelligence and Reporting Tool (BIRT) Mobile, which is based on ActuateOne, includes access to all the advanced features of these platforms such as orientation awareness, touch navigation, e-mail and phone dialing.

ActuateOne provides animated dashboards that access a single BIRT-compatible iServer for both desktop and mobile devices.

Actuate Corp. (San Mateo, Calif.) originated the BIRT project that has since become a part of The Eclipse Foundation (Ottawa) a nonprofit, open-source community developing an ecosystem of complementary products and services. Members of Eclipse include Actuate, Cloudsmith, Genuitec, IBM, Innoopract, Nokia, Obeo, Oracle, SAP, Sonatype and Sopera. Eclipse Foundation projects include AspectJ, BIRT, Buckminster, Eclipse itself (a multi-language software development environment), Equinox, Standard Widget Toolkit, Mylyn, Jetty, JFace, Rich AJAX Platform and Virgo.
ActuateOne allows Apple and BlackBerry mobile device users to drill down into BI content using browsers or native applications, plus provides a software development kit (SDK) for developing custom applications for Apple's iOS.
